Kamidana
This is my original painting of a small "Kamidana".
I made this piece for an exhibition at Gristle Gallery and it was one of three paintings I made in this size. This is probably my favorite small painting if I chose to see it everyday.

ABOUT Kamidana and Yaoyorozu no Kami:
Kamidana is a miniature household altar provided to enshrine a Shinto kami. They are most commonly found in houses in Japan, the home of kami worship.
I don't belong to any religious group but I do somewhat believe in the Yao-yorozu-no-kami.
Yaoyorozu no Kami (八百万の神, Eight Million Gods) is a term referring to kami in Shinto. The phrase "eight million gods" in Shinto religion does not mean that there are exactly 8 million gods. It means there are too many gods to count. At the time infinity was not a known concept and 8 is a lucky number in Asian culture.
